Our Project

SmarTerp pushes the frontier of simultaneous interpreting by effectively integrating machine assistance within the human interpreting workflow, as a LaaS (Language-as-a-Service) solution that offers AI-powered tools in a one-stop shop providing language technology for multilingual meetings, improving their quality by helping interpreters cope with the multitask activity of simultaneous interpretation and tailoring the service to the terminology needs of our customers, consolidating it into an easy-to-use service, evolving it and keeping it an open solution to integrate machine intelligence like Deep Learning.

ETSIT

Licode (Open Source WebRTC-based MCU) to complete the architecture of our RSI system with advanced functionalities and the integration of language technology into the system.


OEG

Multilingual knowledge-graph based Natural Language Processing architecture for the recognition of named entities, figures and relationships between terms from texts in different natural languages, to work in real-time conditions.

ASR of audio streams based on Open Source Kaldi’s code and an advanced end-to-end SLT approach.

Our Brand

KUNVENO has devised a Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI) system based on Open Source components and designed putting the interpreter needs at the centre of the development to ensure a good user experience for remote simultaneous interpreters, technically allowing the possibility of remote interpreting through a dedicated system that takes into account the needs and requirements of professional simultaneous interpreting.

The KUNVENO RSI solution has an interpreter interface that mimics the interpreter console or workstation containing controls for listening and speaking in the form of a soft-console which runs on any ordinary IT device and has onscreen controls. This soft-console can run on computers, tablets or smartphones, same as the interface used by the audience of a conference or meeting to listen to the interpreted speech.

In a near future, our RSI system is going to be extended into a service accessible for all users (including visually-impaired users and deaf users) and interpreters (including sign language interpreters and visually-impaired oral interpreters) and integrated into the new AI-powered solution SmarTerp.

César Escribano

General Manager

César has a MA in Translation Studies and he co-founded language service provider EIDOLON back in 2007. Apart from his business management skills, César has a very extensive curriculum as a professional translator, he has collaborated in the management of different editions of Complutense University Summer Courses at its San Lorenzo de El Escorial campus (1999 to 2009), and he has also a 20 year long experience translating for the European Institutions.

Susana Rodríguez

CTO

Susana has a MA in Conference Interpreting and she also co-founded language service provider EIDOLON. She is an Expert in the management and promotion of international R&D&i projects by the UPM, and she is also an Expert for the development of ISO standards at ISO/TC 37/SC 5 “Translation, interpreting and related technology”. Since 2018 Susana has been a member of the Technical Committee of the Spanish Association of Conference Interpreters (AICE).
